Marks Vs Rank In JEE mains

I know, there is a question that must have struck in the mind of everyone that "How many marks should I score to get good rank in JEE mains !
Earlier when normalization was not there, 250 was the awesome score to get admission in any of the prestigious colleges of India. But ! After normalisation , The pattern has changed !
A guy having 160 marks in Jee mains and 95.6 % in CBSE(99.33 percentile) got a rank o 11,000 but a guy having 243 marks in jee mains and 92 % in board has a rank of 7000 !! Similarly , a guy having 95.3 % in cbse and 191 marks in jee mains got same rank ie 7000 !!

Conclusion: 16 marks in CBSE  After 90% equals to 50 marks in jee mains !!

My Verdict :Try scoring 200 + in Jee mains and 95 %= in Cbse board to get good score !

Choice is yours , what to prepare , after-all future if yours :D

Reference Books for Effective IIT JEE / JEE Main Preparation

A lot of students and their parents wonder which are the best books for an intensive IIT JEE preparation. Some of our experienced faculty, who are also IIT students and alumni, have listed in this post important reference books that are essential for an effective JEE preparation.

JEE Chemistry:

1. NCERT Chemistry 11th and 12th class: The NCERT chemistry books are quite exhaustive in the content aspect. The intext and exercise problems are on a very basic level and cover each and every part of the chapter. Use these books to develop sound fundamentals first, and then move on to more advanced level problems from other books and material.
2. P. Bhadhur Objective: It’s one of the most highly recommended books for physical chemistry for any engineering entrance exam. The set of problems in the book are very exhaustive. The problems available are from state level engineering entrance exams to JEE for each chapter in the book.
3. Arihant Organic Chemistry Objective (Optional): NCERT theory is sufficient for organic and Inorganic but to undergo extra practice, students can refer to Arihant publication books which are re-published each year based on the current pattern of JEE.
Few other books that you can use to pickup some quality problems – O.P Tandon and Arihant Objective for IIT JEE

JEE Physics:

1. NCERT Physics 11th and 12th class: Physics NCERT textbook have been written marvellously well for Physics. The technical language is the first barrier you will face with these books, but it will only prepare you well for JEE. In JEE the first barrier is the language barrier, i.e you need to first comprehend what the problem states.
2. H.C.Verma: It was written by a Prof. from IIT-Kanpur in the early 90′s. It’s the only book till now which has explained all the concepts precisely with a very exhaustive set of problems. The problems of this book provokes analytical reasoning and helps develop strategy to apply concepts in every possible way.
3. Resnick, Halliday & Walker (Optional): This book is referred as additional reading material to further understand the theory of each chapter. Each and every concept is explained to the finest detail with multiple examples for each concept.
Few other books that you can use to pickup some quality problems – I.E Irodov and Concepts of Physics G.C. Agarwal

JEE Mathematics:

1. NCERT Maths 11th and 12th: The problems in the book are basic and easy. Most of the problems can be solved orally by the student. This book should be covered very early in one’s preparation.
2. A. Das Gupta Objective: It’s a practice book for each chapter, and a good indicator of your understanding of each chapter. ‘Practice makes perfect’ and this is the motto of this book.
3. S.L. Loney for Trigonometry and Coordinate Geometry: The author has written the book in a very exhaustive manner, in-fact even PhD students use these books. For ideal preparation it’s always preferred to have a mentor to guide the student on which part of the book is solved and which part can be left out.
4. G.N. Berman: This book is specifically used for Calculus, and on every concept in every chapter a number of different problems are available. Don’t use this book beyond Calculus as it contains higher level mathematics, which is not at all needed for JEE.
Few other books that you can use to pickup some quality problems – I.A Maron and A Das Gupta Subjective.

9 Tips to Crack JEE Advanced 2014

IIT-JEE is one of the most prestigious exams conducted all over India. Up until 2012, approximately 5 lakh students appeared for this exam every year and only 10,000 students were given ranks, a result of just 2%. Now, in 2013 around 13 lakh students appeared for JEE Mains out of which only 1.5 lakh students were selected for JEE Advanced, and finally approximately 10,000 were given ranks, that makes it 0.77%! As a professional JEE counsellor, I would recommend the following 9 tips over and above course content for success on the JEE 2014.
  1. No shortcut to hard work: This means that if you want success then the only way is to work very hard for it. This is because there is lot of competition in each and every thing you do. Without hard work it is rather impossible to achieve anything in life.
  2. Right direction for your hard work: Whatever work you do in your routine, if it does not have any direction then the work done will be a waste. When you work blindly without knowing anything you may fail to get a proper result.
  3. Very strong concept building: If you study something a number of times but still fail to understand the concept, then in all probability you are not enjoying the topic. It is very important for JEE preparation that whatever concepts your study should be strong, otherwise you will face problems while solving questions as all the questions asked in JEE are application based. More importantly, the stronger your concepts, the more you will enjoy studying the latter topics.
  4. Speed with accuracy: In JEE you must have speed with accuracy, because generally papers are lengthy and twisted. Accuracy is required so as to avoid negative marking and thus reducing your loss. Speed will be achieved by regular practice and accuracy comes by paying full concentration while attending classes as well as while attempting more papers.
  5. Consistent preparation as well as performance: One has to be very regular in his or her studies while preparing for JEE. You have to work everyday without taking a single break for the two years. Also the performance graph should be consistent. This means every test you give during these two years should show gradual progress of your performance rather than zig-zag. This will give boost to your confidence level.
  6. Thorough analysis of subject, topics and test: Analysis of everything you do is must. Analysis will give you an idea about your weakness and strength. Depending on that one should work hard on weaknesses and improving strength. Test analysis is important because that will give you a clear picture of whether you know the subject or not.
  7. Disciplined and systematic approach towards studies: One has to be very organised in his or her studies. You study for 10 hrs one day and then don’t study at all for three days will not work. You should decide a particular pattern of study that suits you the most, and then follow this pattern throughout this two years.
  8. Positive attitude: With positive attitude you cannot become a performer. Negativity will result in nothing but frustration and failure.
  9. Burning desire to achieve the target: If you have a burning desire to do something then all the energies in the world will help you in achieving your goal. So set your target, be passionate about it and don’t look back!

[Study Plan] JEE MAIN 2014 Preparation - Strategy, Tips and Tricks To Crack JEE MAIN Exam

What is JEE Main 2014 and why it’s important to have Study PLAN?

JEE MAIN (Joint Entrance Exam) is new engineering entrance exam introduced by CBSE from last year 2013 to get admission in engineering collages of India. Its tough competition to crack the JEE MAIN as there are total of 1.4 million (14 lakh) students appeared last year for this exam and this year it is expected to reach nearly 16 lakh, too high, right?

[Study Plan] JEE MAIN 2014 Preparation - Strategy, Tips and Tricks To Crack JEE MAIN Exam

SO, it’s too important to start the preparation from now only. As the JEE MAIN EXAM DATE is already announced and scheduled to 6th April, 2014 and JEE Advance 2014 will be scheduled on 25th May, 2014.

I will provide you the full proof plan to crack the exam with full resources like eBooks, study material, study tips, how to manage time for board and exam etc etc. So, here is the study plan for the JEE MAIN 2014 Examination.

The First Step towards JEE Main!

Believe in yourself, " I WILL CRACK JEE MAIN AND GET ADMISSION IN IITs". The first step towards the examination is to apply for it, understand the structure, pattern and eligibility for it. You all are aware of such thing, if not then you can get it from the official website of the jee (jeemain.nic.in) only. You can get all the things like syllabus, exam date, important dates, schedule, date sheet application form for jee main and much more thing form their only.

You can also get helpline numbers, official email id of CBSE in case of emergency for exam related issues. You can contact them anytime. So, refer the official website and must read the official announcement carefully before you apply for the examination.

Collection of Study material and eBooks

It is too important to have proper resource for the mission you are going for.  Collect study material and eBooks for the each subject of jeemain. I know the choice of eBook selection is always crucial but you can take help of your subject teacher or any other senior student who appeared in such engineering entrance exam.

If you don’t get any one, don’t worry about it, I am here for you. Stay tune, I am soon post you best eBooks to crack jee main (subject wise). Also, you will get all class notes that is available with me and on other portals.

Time to plan your study

When I am writing this, with due respect to cutting down the time for festivals and board exam, you will get only 3 months to study for jee.  So, in 90 days you have to cover all the syllabus of jee main. I know that most of you have joined the coaching classes but still you have to study yourself a lot. As coaching can teach you the things you don’t know but you have to study yourself to understand and to get fluent in particular topic.

Divide the syllabus and topics

Do not ignore anything from syllabus. Right now, you have enough time to study for the exam, so start the preparation with first topic of syllabus. Shortlist the topics in which you are strong and you are weak. Try to strengthen your strong topics and study more for weak areas. You can take help of Google or our comment section or you can also take help of any of your subject teacher to get solution of any query.

Note down the IMPs

Keep separate notes for jee main examination preparation. For rough work and for IMPs, keep making topic wise notes, so at the time of examination, you can revise them easily. Also, writing down can help you to remember the topic easily as writing once is equal to reading 10 times.

Underline the important words,  separate notes for key information or chemistry formulae is quite helpful Also, making flash cards for the formulae for those who have remembering problem can use this trick to note down such important formulae.

Test yourself

Though, you are having lots of tests in your coaching and schools, but this is the time to make a stand for your career. So, you have to keep going form hard examinations.

Schedule a test for yourself on regular basis for each subject. You can take offline or online mock test, which is preferable to you. There are lots of websites that will provide you mock test for the each subjects of jeemain. You can also get lots of test from your coaching, if not, then you can request one from your teacher anytime.

You can get previous question papers that are available on book mode or in hard cover mode. Try to solve as many question paper you can in time. You may find it difficult but once you got the grip over it, you can solve questions easily.

Analysis of score

Only taking exam is not important, you also have to analyze it. What’s your mistake, what are your weaknesses and what are your strong ground. You can comment below if you have any problem that you found while analyzing.

This will help you to improve your speed and accuracy rate to solve the question paper in time frame. Like, chemistry and math’s are time consuming. You can work hard for such sections. Such things are only noticeable after practicing a lot.

Time management

Defiantly, festivals, facebook is important thing for us, but for just sack of JEE MAIN, give less time to such things. And use more and more time to study and practice question papers. No issue if you are using internet for surfing the study topics and online mock test, but no internet for facebook – twitter.

Limit yourself from such things. Keep fewer outings for these 4 months. Remember, you have to study for board + JEE Main and then JEE Advance (IIT JEE). Of course, we are targeting IIMs, nothing less then it. So, study hard, Jeet hamari hogi :)

For any kind of help, you are free to comment below, I promise you to answer back :)

  • Paper 1 can be offline or online
  • Paper 2 is offline only
  • Candidates have to choose four centres while filling in the JEE Main 2014 Application Form

Candidates who wish to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 have to keep the following in mind:
  • Candidates can appear for both the papers on the same day ONLY if they wish to give them both in the Offline mode as the offline exam will be held on April 6, 2014 while the CBT will be held on April 9, 11, 12 or 19, 2014.

For eg a student resided in Delhi but studies in a Gurgaon school part of NCR, the State code for that particular region would apply for eg Noida will come under the State Eligibility Code for UP. Similarly the state code for Gurgaon will be the code for Haryana.
For Indian nationals passing the equivalent qualifying examination from an institution abroad, the State of Eligibility will be determined on the basis of permanent address in India as given in the Passport of the candidate.
Indian Candidates from Nepal/Bhutancan appear for JEE Main 2014 and their state code will be 99

4. Roll No/Percentage of Marks of Qualifying Examination
: Candidates who are appearing in for their Class XII or equivalent in 2014 need not worry about the Roll No and Marks as the option will not be available for them and they cannot enter anything in there for these sections.

5. Improvement:
a. In case a candidate applies for improvement and is unable to appear for the exam due to unavoidable reasons or so, the marks of the last qualifying exam marks will be taken. The purpose of improvement is to ensure a better score for normalization.
Important:
Candidates who are appearing in the improvement examination to improve their qualifying examination marks will get ONLY ONE CHANCE to inform JEE Main Office as to which year qualifying examination marks to be considered for the purpose of declaration of final merit.
For this candidates have to keep checking the website for the notification about this. It will be announced in May 2014 after the declaration of the JEE Main 2014 scores.
b. Candidates who wish to appear for improvement should appear for all five subjects and NOT in one or two. This is compulsory.
