JEE Main 2014 Exam - Online v/s Offline

The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2014 notifications regarding application forms has been released on 15 November 2013 and the candidates interested can start filling the application form, as the last date for filling the form is 26 December 2013. The JEE Main exam will be held in both online and offline modes and choosing the mode for writing the paper brings lot of curiosity and confusion in students mind and this is most thought about query that candidates have that whether they should write exam in online mode (computer based ) or Offline mode (paper- pencil mode).
Either to support of the mode or to reach to the conclusion the following are the listed pros and cons of online and offline mode of JEE Main 2014 Exam:
PROS AND CONS OF JEE MAIN 2014 Online Exam
PROS:
The online-based exam is conducted on computer and it will be conducted in a span of time. The online test is scheduled for 9, 11, 12 and 19 April 2014 and following are the pros attached with the exam:
  • The answers ticked or given by the candidate can be edited, viewed or changed at any point in time without much hassles.
  • The time consumed is much less, as the answer is one click away.
  • An existing panel is present on the computer screen, which helps the candidate in identifying the questions, which are to be solved or are solved as they are marked with different colors.
  • The online- based exam gives a convenient option to parents of escorting their candidates to the exam center.
  • The fee for computer-based test is lesser in comparison with offline-based exam.
CONS:
  • It is a new method, which has been adapted therefore; the candidates are not too accustomed with this method.
  • The power cut is an issue and there is no safeguard against the power cuts, which occur at the time of the exam.
  • The candidates do not have question paper for the reference.
PROS AND CONS OF JEE MAIN 2014 Offline Exam
PROS:
The other mode in which the JEE Main exam will be conducted is paper-pencil or offline mode for which the exam will be conducted on April 6, 2014.
  • It is most preferred and opted mode, which is chosen by the candidate for writing the paper.
  • The candidates are left with the question booklet, which can be used when the answer key of the exam is disclosed.
CONS:
  • Excess time is consumed by the candidate in filling the answer.
  • Extra time has to be put in to complete the particulars.
  • Once the answers are chosen they cannot be edited or changed.
  • For cross checking of the answer of the question attempted the candidates have to put in extra time.
Going, by the above analysis of online and offline mode the conclusion drawn is that both the modes have their pros and cons and no mode is superior to other mode therefore, the candidates who are open to experimentation can opt for online mode while, the candidates who had like to keep it regular can opt for offline mode.
