The cut off for the general category in JEE Main went up to 115 whereas for that of OBC category is 74. The cut offs for SC and ST were 53 and 47. There are some students who scored 300 but still disappointed as they have either exhausted their two attempts or have scored below 60% in the Class XII board exam. The rule allows each student two attempts to appear for IIT. However, candidates who are not eligible for the IITs can still appear for NITs and Centrally funded institutions.

Brajesh Maheshwari, director of ALLEN Career Institute, said a total of 4,038 students qualified for JEE Advanced 2014. Nine students of ALLEN scored more than 330 marks. "Those who have scored less marks should not be disappointed as next exam, JEE Advance, is the decisive one to ensure their entry in IIT's," Maheshwari said.

Addressing successful students, V K Bansal CMD, Bansal Classes, asked them to take advantage of the help desk prior to form filling up for JEE Advance. "Students should be careful in filling up forms for the next level and should consult experts before submitting their applications," said Bansal, who informed that 2,301 'Bansalites' have qualified for JEE Advance 2014.

Manoj Sharma, vice-president of Resonance says in JEE Main 2013 a total 9,521 students from Resonance were selected, which was the highest number of selection from any institute of Kota. "These successful students have the potential to make to the top 10,000 and secure desired seats," Sharma said.
